August 2024 Rebalance Patch

Greetings everyone and welcome to the fall balance update! Today we are launching a large patch with many changes for various runes across all factions. This is a large rebalance designed to help encourage more diverse and engaging gameplay and bring many runes back out of the shoebox.

Due to the scope of the patch, the patch notes have been divided into four sections.

Known Issues


* When purchasing packs in the client, the contents of the pack may not appear correctly. The purchase has succeeded and the items have been awarded to your account. To view the contents of packs while purchasing and opening, we recommend you use the website for purchasing at this time. This will be fixed in an upcoming hotfix.

Game Logic Changes


* Illusions no longer give presence for deploying relics
* The Savage Tundra font/shrine effect now only reduces AP by 1 rather than 2 when entering the shrine/font zone
* Shrine Mulligan now damages your Shrine for 20 HP rather than costing Nora

Abilities


* Alluring Discipline changed to: The next basic attack this champion makes causes Charmed for 2 turns. If the target was Frozen, all friendly Monks gain 1 damage for 6 turns
* Amber Sigil changed to: This champion gains Absorb and +1 DEF for 5 turns when a friendly unit with a Sigil ability is deployed from the runedock.
* Arcblade: Electricity changed to: This champion makes an Electricity attack at 12 DMG against target champion within 4 spaces. If successful, the nearest enemy champion within 4 spaces takes 9 damage then the next closest champion takes 6 damage. This damage ignores DEF.
* Arcblade: Frost changed to: This champion makes a Frost attack at 12 DMG against target champion within 4 spaces. If successful, the nearest enemy champion within 4 spaces takes 9 damage then the next closest champion takes 6 damage. This damage ignores DEF.
* Aspiring Servant changed to: While Serkan, Lich Master or General Korsien is in play, this champion has Lich-born.
* Bastion of Mobility changed to: Friendly champions within 8 spaces have Mobility.
* Battle Leader changed to: When this champion destroys an opposing champion, friendly champions permanently gain +1 DMG. If the champions also share a race or class with this champion, they also are healed for 4 HP.
* Blood Magic changed to no longer be on the Attack Chain
* Cast: Cauterize champion nora cost changed from 8 to 6
* Cataclysm changed to: Spend 15 charges. All other champions within 8 spaces take 20 fire damage and this champion loses all remaining charges.
* Cataclysm cooldown changed from 0 to 3
* Chain Lightning changed to: This champion makes an attack at Range 2-4 takes 13 Electricity damage, then each enemy champion within 2 spaces of the target takes 10 Electricity damage, then each enemy champion within 2 spaces of those champions takes 7 Electricity damage. This damage ignores DEF. A single champion may not take more than one instance of damage from this effect.
* Commander: Beast champion nora cost changed from 10 to 7
* Conqueror changed to: While this champion is in a neutral or enemy font zone, it gains +3 DMG and +1 DEF.
* Dark Healing changed to: When an enemy champion is healed by a spell or ability, the amount healed is reduced by 50%. At the end of each turn, friendly champions are healed by the same number of HP, distributed evenly among them (rounded down, minimum 1). This effect does not stack.
* Dark Healing champion nora cost changed from 4 to 6
* Death Nova: Skeletons changed to: When this unit is destroyed, 2 Grave Warriors are randomly summoned within 3 spaces.
* Dragon Form changed to: This unit is Cleansed and gains +2 DMG, Immunity: Fire, Dragonflight, and Flamethrower.
* Elemental Nexus: Elementals changed to: Friendly Elementals gain Arctic Camouflage. This shares a CD with and removes the effects of Elemental Nexus: Jakei when activated.
* Empowered: Range champion nora cost changed from 2 to 4
* Enchant: Magic AP cost changed from 3 to 2
* Fear 1 AP cost changed from 3 to 2
* Fear 1 cooldown changed from 3 to 2
* Fear 2 AP cost changed from 3 to 2

* Fester changed to: Target champion within 5 spaces becomes Inhibited for 6 turns.
* Fester cooldown changed from 1 to 2
* Find Pupil changed to: This champion moves 3 spaces at random, then gains Reveal: Kas Pupil (Spawn a Kas Pupil on target adjacent square) for 1 turn.
* Find Source Crystal changed to: This champion moves 3 spaces at random, then gets Reveal: Source Crystal for 1 turn. Source Crystal relics have: This relic has Fire Eater, Lava-fall 1, and Initiate: Devotee to De'lim. If you have 3 or more Source crystals, they have Lava-Fall 2 instead.
* Forbidden Discipline changed to: The next basic attack this champion makes causes the target to become Frightened for 2 turns. If the target was Frozen, all friendly Monks gain 1 damage for 6 turns
* Foul Strike changed to: When this champion successfully damages a champion with a basic attack, all opposing champions within 2 spaces of the target are Diseased and Inhibited for 4 turns.
* Freezing Discipline champion nora cost changed from 4 to 2
* Gift of the Djinn: Dao changed to: Target champion with Race: Elemental or Hyaenid within 5 spaces gains Reflexes 3 until this ability is used again.
* Gift of the Djinn: Dao AP cost changed from 0 to 1
* Gift of the Djinn: Dew changed to: Target champion with Race: Elemental or Hyaenid within 5 spaces gains Regeneration 3 until this ability is used again.
* Gift of the Djinn: Dew AP cost changed from 0 to 1
* Gift of the Djinn: Ifrit changed to: Target champion with Race: Elemental or Hyaenid within 5 spaces gains Berserker 3 until this ability is used again.
* Gift of the Djinn: Ifrit AP cost changed from 0 to 1
* Gift of the Djinn: Marid changed to: Target champion with Race: Elemental or Hyaenid within 5 spaces gains Leap 3 until this ability is used again.
* Gift of the Djinn: Marid AP cost changed from 0 to 1
* Grant: Rage Potion AP cost changed from 3 to 2
* Greenhouse changed to: All Plants within 5 spaces gain +2 DMG. This effect does not stack.
* Hibernate changed to: This champion becomes Stealthed for 6 turns. At the start of next turn, it gains Regeneration 3, Immobile and Pacified for 3 turns or until it is destealthed.
* Hunter: Hero changed to: When this unit would deal damage with any attack to a champion with Hero, Split Hero or with a nora cost of 80 or greater that damage is increased by 2. When this unit would receive damage from any attack by a champion with Hero, Split Hero or with a nora cost of 80 or greater, that damage is decreased by 2. This does not stack with other Hunter: X abilities.
* Impact Strike champion nora cost changed from 6 to 4
* Impact Strike cooldown changed from 3 to 2
* Lava Storm champion nora cost changed from 14 to 12
* Logistics: Range champion nora cost changed from 12 to 10
* Marauder champion nora cost changed from 50 to 30
* Maxxarek's Servant changed to: When this champion is deployed, the closest friendly champion gains Relocate: Demon. Friendly Archdemons gain Blood Bond 1 and Noble Sacrifice.
* Page of K'thiras changed to: While Menalaus or Bowmage are in play, this champion has Force Barrier 2 and Mindwipe Aura 2.
* Mind Siphon champion nora cost changed from 4 to 6
* Mirefolk Resurgence changed to: When this unit is deployed, friendly champions gain 1 AP. If the affected champion is a Mirefolk, it also gains +2 DMG for 3 turns.
* Nohkan Do changed to: Attacks against this unit miss for 2 AP. This effect can trigger once per turn, and does not trigger if this unit is Paralyzed, Distracted or Stunned.
* Nohkan Do champion nora cost changed from 8 to 6
* Obsidian Flight changed to: This unit has Flight, Vulnerability: Sonic and Combat Awareness 1. When within 3 spaces of a champion with Sanguine Flight, it also gains Heart Strike.
* Original Form AP cost changed from 2 to 0
* Pilfer champion nora cost changed from 10 to 7
* Portal Watcher changed to: When a friendly champion relocates (including this one), this champion gains +1 DMG and a rank of Multiattack for 1 turn. This can stack up to 3 times.
* Premonition changed to: When this unit is deployed, champions you own have Impenetrable for 2 turns.
* Psychic Anguish changed to: Enemy champions within 5 spaces of this unit who take Psychic damage become Soultapped for 5 turns.
* Psychic Magnetism champion nora cost changed from 8 to 6
* Relocate: Demon cooldown changed from 3 to 2
* Restricting Luminescence changed to: Enemy champions within 5 spaces have Unequippable.
* Revere: Icesnap changed to: While this champion is in play, Icesnap costs 10% less nora to deploy. While Icesnap is in play, whenever a champion takes frost damage this champion generates 1 nora (This does not include damage from Chilled).
* Revere: Mairdreth of the Rot changed to: While this champion is in play, Mairdreth of the Rot costs 10% less nora to deploy. If Mairdreth of the Rot is in play, all friendly Zombies gain Latch On.
* Sacrificial Power changed to: This champion has Dark Summons. When a real opposing champion is destroyed this champion's cooldowns are reduced by 10. Sheoul Disciples cost 10 less nora.
* Shrine Mulligan changed to: Your shrine loses 20 HP and you obtain a new set of starting runes. This ability is removed after it is used, after you play a rune, or after the first round.
* Silent Contemplation changed to: Until this champion moves, it has +4 MAX RNG, Planar Bound, and Sentinel.
* Skeezick Rebel changed to: When a real friendly champion is destroyed, this unit is healed for 6 HP. If that unit was a Skeezick, this unit also gains +2 Max HP and Enrage 1.
* Skeezick Rebel champion nora cost changed from 2 to 4
* Soultap changed to: Any time this champion damages another with a basic attack, the target becomes Soultapped for 6 turns
* Soultap Feedback changed to: When this champion is attacked, the attacking champion becomes Soultapped for 5 turns.
* Soultap Luminescence changed to: When this unit is deployed and at the start of its turns, opposing champions within 4 spaces become Soultapped for 5 turns.
* Spur changed to: This champion has +1 DMG and +1 SPD for each opposing champion within 5 spaces.
* Spur champion nora cost changed from 9 to 7
* Stormreader changed to: The first time each turn an enemy champion within 5 spaces takes Electricity damage, this champion deals 6 Electricity damage to that champion (ignores DEF). The same champion cannot be damaged by multiple copies of this ability in the same turn.
* Stunning Wail cooldown changed from 1 to 3
* Surge: Arthropod champion nora cost changed from 8 to 5
* Surge: Behemoth changed to: This unit has +1 DMG for every friendly Cyclops champion.
* Swamp Teachings champion nora cost changed from 10 to 8
* Sweep AP cost changed from 1 to 3
* Swift Current changed to: When this champion makes a successful basic attack, friendly champions within 5 spaces gains Mobility for 1 turn and moves 1 space towards the target if able. If the affected champion shares a race or class with this one, it also gains 1 AP. This effect can trigger only once per turn.
* Torch changed to: When an enemy champion is healed, the source of the healing loses HP equal to 25% of the total amount healed. If that source is a spell, all champions affected take the damage. This effect does not stack.
* Torch changed to: When an enemy champion is healed, the source of the healing loses HP equal to 50% of the total amount healed. If that source is a spell, all champions affected take the damage. This effect does not stack.
* Train: Nohkan Do changed to: Target friendly champion within 5 spaces permanently gains Nohkan Do. This ability costs 6 nora.
* Train: Nohkan Do champion nora cost changed from 8 to 6
* Tundra Awakening champion nora cost changed from 10 to 8
* Vigilance changed to: This champion has +1 DMG for each engaged friendly champion within 5 spaces, including itself. At the end of its turn, it gains a rank of Tough for 3 turns for each engaged friendly champion within 5 spaces, including this one. It also gains +1 SPD if that champion shares a race with it, not including itself.
* Void Strike cooldown changed from 1 to 2
* Void Touch changed to: When this champion successfully hits a champion with a basic attack, the attacked champion loses an ability with the highest nora cost (this does not remove basic attacks).
* Volley Leader champion nora cost changed from 9 to 6
* Whirling Stones changed to: At the end of this unit's turns and when it is the target of a basic attack, the closest enemy champion within 3 spaces takes 5 Physical damage and is knocked back 1 space.
* Wicked Aura changed to: Whenever an enemy champion within 5 spaces would gain AP, they get 1 less than normal.
* Zombie Apocalypse changed to: This champion has Disease Eater. While you control at least 5 Zombies, this unit gains Swarm: Festering Corpse.
* Zombie Herder changed to: Friendly Zombies within 5 spaces gain 3 AP and Charge 3 and lose Lumbering, Weighty, and Lumbering for 1 turn. If the champion already has Charge, it gains Crushing Charge instead.

Relics


* Celestial Spear changed to: When this unit is deployed, opposing champions within 4 spaces takes 8 Electricity damage. This damage ignores DEF. When a friendly Paladin, Priest or Shaman within 4 spaces is successfully attacked, the attacker takes 3 Electricity damage.
* Celestial Spear's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 35
* Elemental Nexus's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 25
* Endless Iceberg's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Ethereal Pool changed to: This unit has Relocate Self and Fascinate. Friendly champions within 3 spaces with Obsidian Flight gain Enchant: Magic and Magic Acolyte. Friendly champions within 3 spaces with Sanguine Flight gain Portal Dancer and Phantom Dash.
* Ethereal Pool's DEF changed from 0 to 1
* Gatling Gun's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Graveyard changed to: This relic has Graveyard (A Skeleton with Font Ignorance is spawned on an empty, adjacent space to this unit and your Shrine or Avatar takes 4 damage - Cooldown 2).
* Graveyard's Nora Cost changed from 45 to 40
* Hahndor Memorial's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Ruby Catalyst changed to: This relic has Ruby Catalyst (When a unit takes Fire damage, this unit gains +2 MAX HP. This does not include damage from Charred. When this unit is destroyed, enemy champions within 5 spaces take Fire damage equal this unit's MAX HP, divided evenly (to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10)) and Demolish (This unit is Demolished).
* Ruby Catalyst's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Sapphire Catalyst changed to: This relic has Sapphire Catalyst (When a unit takes Frost damage, this unit gains +2 MAX HP. This does not include damage from Chilled. When this unit is destroyed, enemy champions within 5 spaces take Frost damage equal this unit's MAX HP, divided evenly (to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10)) and Demolish (This unit is Demolished).
* Sapphire Catalyst's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Skeezick Banner changed to: This relic has Prestige (All friendly champions, including this one, within 5 spaces have Iron Will and Fearless), Relocate Self (This unit is relocated to target space within 5 spaces. This ability begins on CD), and Skeezick Banner (Friendly Skeezicks within 5 spaces gain Skeezick Alliance. If they already have Skeezick Alliance, they gain Skeezick Rebel instead).
* Skeezick Banner's HP changed from 25 to 20
* Skeezick Banner's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 25
* Sludge Pool changed to: This unit has Ooze Aura and Hidden: Ooze. Friendly champions within 5 spaces with Race: Slag gain Acid Eater and Damage Shield: Acid 3. If they already have Acid Eater, they gain Vigor: Acid instead.
* Sludge Pool's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 25
* Thunderhead Totem changed to: This relic has Lightning Skewer (All champions occupying spaces 1 to 6 spaces in a targeted straight line away from this champion take 12 Electricity damage and are Paralyzed 1. This damage ignores DEF), Electricity Aura 1 (At the beginning of your opponent's turns, this unit deals 2 Electricity damage to each champion within 2 spaces. This damage ignores DEF) and Instability (When this unit uses an ability, it loses 10 HP).
* Tower of Amareth changed to: This relic has Iridescent Projection (When a friendly champion within 8 spaces makes an attack, a random opposing unit within 8 spaces of this one takes 2 Magical damage. If the attacking champion is a Fairy or a Wizard, the closest unit to this one takes the damage instead. This damage ignores DEF) and Amplify: Magic (Magic damage dealt to champions and relics is increased by 10%).
* Tower of Amareth's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30

Spells


* Anathema changed to: Area Effect 3: Champions take 12 Disease damage and become Defiled and Decaying for 2 turns.
* Bad Blood changed to: Target champion takes 15 Magical damage. Champions that share a race with target champion within 5 spaces also take 8 Magical damage.
* Bane Blast changed to: Area Effect 2: Champions take 12 Electricity damage. If they are Stunned or Paralyzed, they lose those conditions and take an additional 6 Electricity damage.
* Conclave Concordance's Nora Cost changed from 40 to 45
* Crystal Reflection changed to: For 4 turns, friendly champions with Race: Elemental gain Reflection 2. If the champion has Nora Gem or Endless Devotion, it also gains Mirrored for 4 turns.
* Crystal Reflection's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 40
* Crystallize changed to: Target friendly champion without Unstoppable is Crystallized for 6 turns. If the target champion has Race: Elemental, it is also healed for 8 HP.
* Crystallize's Nora Cost changed from 35 to 30
* Deep Freeze changed to: Area Effect 4: Units take 10 Frost damage and become Frozen 2.
* Domination changed to: Target non-Possessed enemy champion recovers 4 AP, gains Chasm Walker, and is Possessed for 1 turn.
* Frigid Barrier changed to: Enemy units within target font deployment zone take 10 Frost Damage and unoccupied spaces adjacent to the deployment zone become Crystal (This space is inaccessible) for 2 turns.
* Frigid Barrier's Nora Cost changed from 50 to 40
* Intimidation changed to: For 4 turns, the team or player with the fewest champions loses 1 DEF and 3 DMG on all their champions. This effect does not stack.
* Maddening Echoes changed to: Area Effect 2: Champions within the affected area take an amount of Sonic damage based on the number of non-summoned, non illusion champions within the affected area: 1 champion takes 5 damage, 2 champions each take 8 damage, 3 champions each take 12 damage, 4 champions each take 17 damage, 5+ champions each take 23 damage. Champions damaged by this spell gain Resistance: Sonic 3 for 1 turn.
* Mark of Redemption changed to: Target champion gains +2 DMG, Precision and Scale Armor for 6 turns. If the unit is destroyed while this effect is active, you gain 20 nora.
* Mark of Redemption's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 35
* Marsh Song changed to: For 8 rounds, you gain 8 nora at the end of your turns.
* Marsh Song's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 35
* Northern Wind Discipline changed to: Champions in a 5 space straight line of target champion take 10 Frost damage and become Frozen for 3 turns if successfully damaged. If any additional targets are friendly monks, they take no damage and opposing champions in a 5 space straight line from that champion take 5 Frost damage and become Frozen for 3 turns and are relocated 1 space closer if successfully damaged
* Plague changed to: Target champion becomes Plagued and spawns a Festering Corpse under your control upon death. Target champion becomes Inhibited 5, Diseased 5 and Infectious 5.
* Psionic Impact changed to: For 1 turn, champions damaged by Psychic attacks are knocked back 1 space and become Distracted for 2 turns. Friendly champions with race: Firk gain Defensive Strike for 1 turn. This effect does not stack.
* Psionic Impact's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 35
* Psychic Conundrum changed to: Target friendly champion loses up to 12 AP and enemy champions within 5 spaces take Psychic damage equal to 150% of the AP lost (rounded up). Champions successfully damaged this way become Distracted for 2 turns. Champions who are Soultapped also gain Wandering for 2 turns.
* Psychic Conundrum's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 35
* Retribution's Nora Cost changed from 50 to 45
* Superiority changed to: All champions within 5 spaces of target champion which do not share a race with that champion take 13 Psychic damage. If target champion is Race: Archdemon, those champions also become Frightened for 2 turns.
* Touch of Death changed to: Target champion gains Vulnerability: Disease and loses 3 HP per turn for 6 turns. If this effect ends or is removed before this champion is destroyed, you are refunded 20 nora.
* Touch of Death's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Vertical Push changed to: Target champion is removed from play and closest friendly champion gains Font Ignorance for 2 turns. After 3 turns, this champion is returned to play in a random unoccupied location 1-4 squares from the location where it was launched, has its HP adjusted to before it was removed from play and takes 18 Physical damage. If there are no valid locations, the redeployment effect is delayed for 1 turn. This spell cannot target champions with Flying or Earthbound. If the champion is equipped, the nora cost of the equipment is refunded for the equipment's owner.
* Waylay's Nora Cost changed from 40 to 45
* Wings of Glory changed to: Area Effect 3: Friendly champions with a Flight or Sigil ability gain 2 AP, +2 DEF, Pace and Encouraged for 4 turns.

Equipment


* Aurora Lance changed to: Equipped champion gains Purified and Lightseeker. If it has Class: Wizard, it also gains Aurora Lance.
* Aurora Lance's Nora Cost changed from 25 to 30
* Blade of the Snake changed to: Equipped champion that has a MAX RNG of 2 or less gains +4 DMG. If champion is Race: Archdemon, it also gains Battle Leader. At the start of its turns, equipped champion loses 5 HP.
* Blade of the Snake's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 25
* Crystal Anima changed to: Equipped champion gains Iceguard and Soul Vitality. If it has Race: Elemental, it also gains Soultap Luminescence.
* Demon Shield changed to: Equipped champion gains Arrow Eater and Combat Awareness 1. If champion has 2 max range or less, you are refunded 5 nora. This may only be equipped on champions with Race: Demon.
* Elite Blade changed to: Equipped champion has +10 MAX HP and +2 DMG. If it has Class: Ranger or Class: Knight, it also gains Reflexes 3.
* Elite Blade's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 25
* Firk Mask changed to: Equipped champion gains Vigor: Psychic and Psychic Magnetism. If the champion is Race: Firk, it also gains Noetic Mind.
* Flag of Unification changed to: Equipped champion gains Prestige and Fellowship. If it is Race: Jakei or Class: Monk, it also gains Vigilance.
* Flag of Unification's Nora Cost changed from 35 to 30
* Forge Hammer changed to: Equipped champion with MAX RNG of 2 or lower gains Relic Guardian and Forge Hammer.
* Forge Hammer's Nora Cost changed from 30 to 25
* Helm of Chaos changed to: Equipped champion that is Race: Archdemon or Class: Knight gains Absorb, Command: Charge, Confuse and Reckless.

* Night Blade changed to: Equipped champion gains Precision and Strike. If the champion is Race: Archdemon or Race: Imp, it also gains Zeal: Speed.
* Night Blade's Nora Cost changed from 20 to 25
* Providence changed to: Equipped champion with Class: Warrior gains Hold the Line (This champion gains +2 DEF, +1 MAX RNG, Planar Bound, Unstoppable, Iron Will and Defensive Strike until it moves. This does not stack) and Block 1 (Next time target champion within 10 spaces makes a close-combat attack against this unit, that attack automatically misses. This effect is hidden until triggered. This effect does not trigger if this unit is Paralyzed or Stunned). If the equipped champion has Race: Leoss, it also gains Barricade (When this unit is Holding the Line, it gains Prestige and Defiant).
* Reverberating Bracelet changed to: Equipped champion gains Void Shield. If it has Class: Monk or Race: Salaman, it also gains Sonicburst.
* Scepter of Onus changed to: Equipped champion gains Spellswallower and Radiant Blow. If it has Class: Wizard or Race: Imp, it also gains Flameburst.
